North Vancouver’s past and present meet up in The Shipyards District, also known as Lower Lonsdale. In this neighbourhood, you’ll find shipbuilding and where the working tugboats live as well as boutiques, specialty food shops, galleries, craft breweries, distillery, cidery, and restaurants of every description and antique stores.

Lower Lonsdale is North Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhood, steeped in history and bursting with shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs that truly capture the unique spirit of the North Shore. The area extends four blocks up Lonsdale Avenue and two blocks east and west, but its heart is at The Shipyards.

The Quay Market & Food Hall

The Quay Market & Food Hall has more than 80 unique shops and services selling everything from fresh West Coast seafood to handmade chocolates. It is also where you’ll find the SeaBus ferry to Vancouver and bus terminal. Walk along the pathway to the west – you’ll find the kid-friendly Waterfront Park. You can enjoy the public art and great views of the city.

The Shipyards

Centrally located on North Vancouver’s vibrant waterfront with unobstructed views of Vancouver’s stunning skyline to the south and the soaring North Shore Mountains to the north, The Shipyards has indicators of the area’s rich history while also housing some of the North Shore’s newest developments and attractions. The Shipyards is home to The Pipe Shop — a historic events venue, Tap & Barrel and one of the largest licensed patios in BC, and Shipyards Commons — splash park by summer and outdoor ice skating by winter.

Restaurant row in The Shipyards is a line-up of great local restaurants complete with some of the best patios, all right next to each other! Enjoy comfort food from Burgoo, Greek dining from Anatoli Souvlaki, and Exquisite Seafood Tower at Pier 7!

The neighbourhood’s three centrally located hotels – Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier, Seaside Hotel, Lonsdale Quay Hotel make it a perfect neighbourhood to stay and explore.
